“Our daughter, 8, has been having individual violin lessons with Mr Perkins for two years and piano lessons for one. His enthusiasm and love of music together with his fun and engaging sessions really motivates our daughter to do her best.

She has had in-person as well as online lessons with Mr Perkins during the pandemic, and though she misses the in-person lessons, both her violin and piano skills have improved at such a pace that she will soon be taking her Grade 3 exams in both instruments.

Mr Perkins also ensures that good techniques are learnt, so our daughter has a great ‘bow hold’ while playing the violin and hand position on the piano. He also goes the ‘extra mile’ and has organised for our daughter to play at local music competitions, and in the Orchestra and String Group at her school. These experiences have helped to build her confidence in performing and to feel part of a wider musical community.

He was also able to recognise our daughter’s natural musical ability and recommended she apply to one of the top music schools in England. She was accepted into the String Training Programme at this institution and is now on a path that could lead to great things. None of this would have been possible without Mr Perkins.
